He wants 4 more years?  I can’t imagine the stuff he’ll do, unchecked with no worries of another campaign.  He needs to grow up.

Another Governmental Agency Fails

July 19, 2012 Leave a comment

So, DHS and ICE, who are charged with protecting the country and identifying and detaining those who are in this country illegally, have allowed individuals to own, operate, and attend flight schools without a background check to determine if they are legally in this country.  Anyone remember how those who flew passenger jets into buildings in New York obtained their flight training?  Add this to the list of fails for a government entity.  It’s mind-numbing to read this article.

36 Obama aides owe $833,000 in back taxes

Posted 01/26/2012 08:18 AM ET

How embarrassing this must be for President Obama, whose major speech theme so far this campaign season has been that every single American, no matter how rich, should pay their “fair share” of taxes.

Because how unfair — indeed, un-American — it is for an office worker like, say, Warren Buffet’s secretary to dutifully pay her taxes, while some well-to-do people with better educations and higher incomes end up paying a much smaller tax rate.

Or, worse, skipping their taxes altogether.

A new report just out from the Internal Revenue Service reveals that 36 of President Obama’s executive office staff owe the country $833,970 in back taxes. These people working for Mr. Fair Share apparently haven’t paid any share, let alone their fair share.

Previous reports have shown how well-paid Obama’s White House staff is, with 457 aides pulling down more than $37 million last year. That’s up seven workers and nearly $4 million from the Bush administration’s last year.

Nearly one-third of Obama’s aides make more than $100,000 with 21 being paid the top White House salary of $172,200, each.

The IRS’ 2010 delinquent tax revelations come as part of a required annual agency report on federal employees’ tax compliance. Turns out, an awful lot of folks being paid by taxpayers are not paying their own income taxes.

The report finds that thousands of federal employees owe the country more than $3.4 billion in back taxes. That’s up 3% in the past year.

That scale of delinquency could annoy voters, hard-pressed by their own costs, fears and stubbornly high unemployment despite Joe Biden’s many promises.

The tax offenders include employees of the U.S. Senate who help write the laws imposed on everyone else. They owe $2.1 million. Workers in the House of Representatives owe $8.5 million, Department of Education employees owe $4.3 million and over at Homeland Security, 4,697 workers owe about $37 million. Active duty military members owe more than $100 million.

The Treasury Department, where Obama nominee Tim Geithner had to pay up $42,000 in his own back taxes before being confirmed as secretary, has 1,181 other employees with delinquent taxes totaling $9.3 million.

As usual, the Postal Service, with more than 600,000 workers, has the most offenders (25,640), who also owe the most — almost $270 million. Veterans Affairs has 11,659 workers owing the IRS $151 million while the Energy Department that was so quick to dish out more than $500 million to the Solyndra folks has 322 employees owing $5 million.

The country’s chief law enforcement agency, the Department of Justice, has 2,069 employees who are nearly $17 million behind in taxes. Like Operation Fast and Furious, Attorney General Eric Holder has apparently missed them too.

As with ordinary people, the IRS attempts to negotiate back-tax payment plans with all delinquents, whose names cannot be released. But according to current federal law, the only federal employees who can be fired for not paying taxes are IRS workers.

Can you believe some people actually think like this??

Terri List says she would tell her students not to become a teacher in Michigan.

One of the reasons is because the Saginaw Township Community School District English teacher won’t be able to retire at age 47 as she has hoped.

List was highlighted by the Michigan Education Association as one of the critics of Senate Bill 1040, which would require public school employees to contribute at least 5 percent of their compensation to their retirement plan.

The MEA reported on its website: “Saginaw Township teacher Terry (sic) List had hoped to retire in the next three years when she was 47 years old. That wouldn’t be possible under SB 1040. List would have to work another 16 years to be eligible for health benefits.”

“By the time I’m 60, I would have put in 43 years of service, earning a salary at the top of the pay scale. How does that save the district money? You could hire two people for the cost of one and encourage young people to join the profession. Right now, I would not recommend to my pupils to become a teacher in Michigan.”

List didn’t respond to an email seeking comment.

According to the school’s most recent teacher’s contract, List earns between $70,000 and $80,000 a year depending upon her level of education. Factor in expected pay raises over the next 15 years and it’s likely List would make more than $90,000 by the time she retires, said Michael Van Beek, education policy director at the Mackinac Center for Public Policy.

Van Beek estimated List’s pension would be $60,000 a year in retirement and it would increase 3 percent a year and she would get health benefits when she retired at age 60. Van Beek also said that it is likely that List bought “years of service” because she said she would have 43 years of service by age 60. Van Beek said that practice is basically extinct in the private sector.

Leon Drolet, chairman of the Michigan Taxpayers Alliance, called List’s comments “amazing.”

“Wow. They have reached the politicians’ level of entitlement,” Drolet said. “She thinks she is entitled to retire at 47? Holy smokes. I don’t know what more to say to that. A government employee thinking that 47 is a reasonable expectation to retire shows just how deep inside their own bubble they live, insulated from the real world.”

Charles Owens, president of the Michigan chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business, said tongue-in-cheek that List was “spot on” in her complaint.

“If you want to retire if you are 47, apparently teaching is not the place to go,” Owens said. “The least Terri could do is provide a list of places other people could go so they can retire when they are 47.”

Also had to include fantastic comment following this article.

“By the time I’m 60, I would have put in 43 years of service,…………..”

Funny how facts don’t match the story floated by these govt union bosses- as usual. Thankfully, she’s not a math teacher, because what she’s claiming is that she started her “service” when she was 17 yrs old.

Public education in America has been a closed and rigged system for decades, and we’re witnessing the resulting cries of victimhood and claims of attacks targeted solely on teachers.

Tenure? Where else is that used as an effective labor relations concept? Guaranteed retirement income for life- without contributing a penny towards it? Step-pay increases because you continue going to school? Annual salaries for working 9 months a year- while getting the best 3 months of the year off? Totally free health insurance with benefits that are head and shoulders above anything else available in the state- which BTW, was provided by a company owned by the MEA and almost always prevented sharing of claims history to enable a competitive quote from other carriers. That’s fair?

And in exchange for that, we received a terribly inadequate education for our children that was heavily laced with socialist indoctrination and inept educators- at arbitrarily inflated costs. Get that woman away from our kids. She’s a menace.

Two Clueless Brats  <==== link

Okay, so the reporter is pathetic.  She should have taken these brats to task.  I think she’s in shock, honestly.  You can see the smirk on the first girl’s face.  I’d like to slap that smirk clean off for her.  How can two young girls be so clueless and detatched to the fact that they committed a crime for the sake of the all mighty dollar?  I wonder what their parents think of their actions?
